Included with these reformations, is the introduction of more characters, like the support hero, Kiriko. I'd write more about the process that went into this too but this is already turning into a massive description.Overwatch 2 has introduced a lot of changes to the gameplay mechanics that differentiate it from its popular predecessor, with small changes that make the game go by quicker, to larger changes, like the change to Orisa's character. The markings going down her body are a representation of that bond.

Her Harness strengths that bond and her 'gun' has a run of air on it to further expand her ability to use the bonds of air. The spirit she is bonded with is a spirit an air bond, allowing her to displace the air around her, and her 'gun' to fire air bullets. Here time based powers wouldn't work in the setting, time travel and even teleportation to a degree aren't really a thing in the Shakura-verse, so I decided to make her a "champion", who are characters imbued with the powers of a Kai-Jinn or great spirit, rather than drawing their strength from a runic bond. Now we get to the more mystical elements, like how could Tracer still have the same mechanical function in universe. Her mask reflect her personality, in the shape of a smile, with accents of rare iron.

I knew her visor wouldn't really work, but masks are common in the Shakura-verse.

That lead me to thinking though if Tracer in this society where the sun is blisteringly hot like it is where the Himba people reside she could also likely be using the clay mix on her skin like they do, which resulted in my toning her skin more with red to simulate the thick clay base that covers their skin to protect from the sun (and biting insects). Now that shape is nothing like Tracer's but creative liberties sometimes need to be taken. The Himba use distinctive red clay and mud in their hair to give it shape and keep them cool from the brutal African sun (which is even more brutal in Shakura's Sunset). Various kinds of fruit based cremes and clay do though so, it came to deciding what she would use instead and I came to the realization that the Himba people of Namiba would be a perfect inspiration for this look. Let's start from the top, I wanted to keep her distinctive hair style here, but I also wanted it to make sense in universe of Shakura's Sunset (or the Shakura-verse ) so in order to keep that, I needed to justify it and Shakura's Sunset isn't society where hair gel is really a thing. So let's look at how we took Tracer ( "Lena"), who normally looks like this - /Tracer and how we took her to the above look and how she is still the same character at her core but how things change through the lens and of Shakura's Sunset and who that lens is shaped by real world cultures. It isn't and has never simply been "Character but black and in a grass skirt." Paid for by my wonderful Patrons on Patreon: I don't normally post humans here but, I put so so much work into this one, and I want to talk about as Shakura!izations are and have always been deeply complicated translations and transliterations through art.
